Terms of Service
These terms describe how High Desert Web Designs engagements work: what is in scope, how pricing and payment are handled, who owns the finished work, and the limits of what we can promise. Plain language, no fine print.

Scope of services
The studio provides website design and development, custom platform and application work, hosting and domain setup, technical and local SEO, email configuration, and ongoing maintenance. The exact deliverables for your engagement are the ones listed in your written proposal or scope document.
Work that falls outside that written scope is welcome, but it is quoted and agreed separately rather than absorbed into the current project.
Project-based pricing
Engagements are priced per project, not hourly. Package work is quoted as a fixed price after a scoping conversation. Fully custom platform work is scoped and quoted per project.
The ranges published on the pricing page are planning estimates to help you budget. They are not a binding offer — your quote is the written figure you receive after scoping.
Payment terms
- Deposit. Projects begin once the scope is agreed and the initial deposit invoice is paid. The deposit reserves the schedule and covers discovery work.
- Milestones. The balance is invoiced at agreed milestones, with the final invoice issued at launch or handover.
- Due dates. Invoices are due by the date shown on the invoice. If an invoice goes materially past due, we may pause work until it is settled and reschedule remaining milestones accordingly.
- Recurring services. Hosting, maintenance, and support plans are billed on their stated cycle and can be cancelled with reasonable notice before the next cycle.
Revisions and feedback
Package engagements include the number of revision rounds stated in the proposal. Fully custom engagements run on continuous feedback, with iteration built into the build process. Timelines assume feedback arrives within a reasonable window; long gaps in review can shift the launch date.
Ownership of deliverables
On final payment, you own the finished website and its source files, along with your domain, hosting account, and content. There are no lock-ins and no proprietary platform you have to keep paying us to use.
Third-party components — fonts, stock imagery, libraries, and platform services such as hosting or payment processing — remain under their own licences and provider terms. Content, logos, and imagery you supply remain yours, and you confirm you have the right to use them. We may reference the completed project as an example of our work unless you ask us not to.
What we can and cannot promise
Work is delivered with professional care, built to current web standards, and tested before launch. Search engines and advertising platforms, however, control their own ranking and delivery systems, so we do not guarantee specific search positions, traffic volumes, revenue, or conversion rates.
We also cannot guarantee uninterrupted availability of third-party services we do not operate. To the extent permitted by law, our total liability arising from an engagement is limited to the fees you paid for that engagement, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses such as lost profits.
Ending an engagement
Either side can end an engagement in writing. If that happens, you pay for work completed up to that point and we hand over the deliverables produced so far. Deposits cover work already performed and are non-refundable.
Changes and governing law
We may update these terms and will revise the "last updated" date above. The terms in effect when your project is agreed apply to that project. Where a signed proposal or contract differs from this page, that document controls.
